The CEO basically responded with the fact that they found out people were interested in paying more than cost for them and that the would rather sell something at a significantly reduced margin instead of helping out employees and offering them a benefit. Some people noticed that the supply in this was dwindling and asked the CEO about it in a company meeting. A big benefit of working at purple is that they sell their scratch and dent items to the employees at near cost. They put on an appearance of wanting a positive culture, but the moment they think the can get away with taking from the employees to benefit them, they won't hesitate. Upper Management, specifically the CEO, reminds me of Mom from Futurama.
